Never Mind the Ballots: Eight Upcoming Radical Protests & Events
While most eyes seemed to be focused solely on the election and our political ‘leaders’, there are a lot of other events coming up to keep the anarchists and radicals of Bristol (and beyond) busy. Some of these are being organised by us, some by our friends and comrades. Others are just ones we’re going to and you should do everything you can to support or attend as well. Whatever your view on the election, make sure it doesn’t get in the way of the real politics!

Dorset Radical Bookfair
Saturday 3rd June

Portfield Community Hall
Dorset’s first ever Radical Bookfair is happening this Saturday! There will be stalls, talks covering a range of topics (including two from us on ‘Capitalism, Anarchism & Mental Health’ and ‘Revolutionary Women’), and films on anarchism, rebellion, and the revolution. And it’s free entry!

Hartcliffe Protest! Re-open the Rent Offices!

Symes House
Come on down to Hartcliff on Saturday to stand with residents as they protest the cuts their community has had to face and the closure of council facilities at Symes House. These are cuts we’re facing all over the city, so even if you don’t live in Hartcliff, go on down and show your support. Facebook event.
Kebele Art Weekend

As part of the Easton Arts Trail, Kebele will be hosting a two-day event of visual and performance art, including exhibitions ranging from zines and posters to embroidered high-vis jackets and artwork from Bristol Art for All. Facebook event.
Court Protest Against #ToxicBankers Barclays & Ridiculous Criminal Charges

Come out and support the rising up roof occupier as they head into court to face a charge of aggravated trespass. There’ll be food, banners, and apparently some surprises! Facebook event.
Bristol March for our Future: Post-Election Demo

College Green
Whatever the outcome of the general election, people from all over Bristol will be coming together for a post-election demonstration on College Green. Either as a display of resistance to ongoing Tory austerity, or a commitment to ensuring the anti-cut agenda is pursued by a newly formed government Facebook event.
Borderless: Celebrating Difference

An all-day event of women taking back power and space. There will be a range of activities throughout the day, including discussion, workshops, and performances, all with the aim of exploring identity and celebrating difference. Facebook event.
Peter Gelderloos ‘Worshiping Power’ Book Tour

Author and activist Peter Gelderloos (Anarchy Works / The Failure of Nonviolence) is returning to Bristol as part of a tour in support of his new book, ‘Worshiping Power’ which you can find out more about here.
As an added incentive, a hot vegan meal will be served before the Bristol talk as a fundraiser!

The third in our series of free workshops, ‘Capitalism: A Survival Guide’, this time focusing on the workplace. We’ll be sharing experiences, offering support, refining strategies, and hearing from members of Solidarity Federation, Industrial Workers of the World, and Unite the Union, and the Anarchist Federation. Protestival Spring Festival
Bath Protestival recently had their Spring Festival, and despite the weather not being able to make its mind up, everyone had a great time. There was an assortment of music, interesting talks and workshops, and a whole range of crafty activities. As well as our stall of seditious anarchist propaganda, we ran a workshop on staying safe and out witting the ‘powers that be’ on protests and direct actions.

Capitalism: A Survival Guide
Our series of workshops on how to survive capitalism kicked off in April with an Introduction to Online Security. The blog post about it is now online, offering you everything you need to make your online world a freer and safer place.
The most recent workshop was ‘How to Survive Disability Benefit’. We shared knowledge, tips and tricks to making it through ESA, and looked at ways we can join together to confront the system head on. Lots of great advice and resources were shared, and we’ll be posting the blog post for it soon.
And finally, our next workshop (as we mentioned before) will be on knowing your rights and getting organised in the workplace, 20th June. Don’t forget to pencil it in!
